Official Duties and Responsibilities
- At each mat there will be a chairperson, a referee, and a judge.
- They will all collaborate together to award points correctly.
- They will wear grey pants and a blue shirt (as per FILA colours) and will have a blue wristband on their left wrist and a red wristband on their right wrist.
Referees
The referees will make sure that the wrestlers are at the mat and are proper and ready to wrestle. They are responsible for the conduct and safety of the wrestlers.They have to be able to control the match while at the same time remaining as unobtrusive as possible. A referee that neither the coach nor the wrestler can remember is a good referee.
Judge
The judge verifies that the correct wrestler is on the mat. They remain seated and fill out the bout sheet with the number of points won in each round and how the match was won (fall, decision, etc...). They will circle the winner's name, and cross of the loser's. The judge has the right to award any points that the referee might have missed.
Chairperson
The chairperson is responsible for controlling the conduct of the referee and the judge, as well as the whole bout. They initiate a clinch if the score is 0-0. If the period doesn't end in a fall, they will make the decision of the winner.
