Outside Leg Attacks
Single leg: To attack your opponents left side. To set this move up you will take bicep control with your right hand, and pull them so that they step with their left foot. This is where you attack. Your right leg should be in front, and you will drop down to you knee. You should be right beside their foot. You will then wrap your arms around your opponent’s leg and grab your right wrist with your left hand. Your head should be on the inside of their body, and it should be up. Your face should be in their ribs. This happens quickly so you should be able to stand up with the leg almost instantaneously. From here you will progress to a take down. The most common and simplest is to hoist up their leg to your chest level. You should hook your elbow around their foot and place your hand over their knee. You will then take a step to your left and trip their foot with your right.
Low outside single: Attacking their right leg. For this technique it’s best to start from an arm’s length away. Do the same set up as the single leg, and get them to bring their right foot forwards. Here you will let go of them completely and squat down so that you’re looking at their knee. This is called changing the level. It is crucial to change the level for this technique or else it ends up looking like an awkward high crotch. From this point you will attack the leg by taking the heel of their foot, and having your elbow beside their toe. Make sure to keep your head up and level and lean on their leg. This is what makes them want to fall. You should be your right knee, with your left leg back. Your goal for this is to get around behind them. In order to complete this you will take a step with your left leg, and take a scissor step under your left leg with your right leg and step back over with your left. Grab their other ankle with your free arm. You should end up in a position where you are behind them and have their ankles.
Low inside single: This technique is almost the same as the low single, but it is done on the inside. Say you were attacking their left leg. You would change the level and have the same attacking posture as the outside single, but instead of having your head on the outside you would have it on the inside. You have to be really aggressive with this move to take it down. While they’re falling that’s when you double up low on the ankles.
